Lady Miners take Two

            Much closer and a better played game for both JV and varsity teams Tuesday night in Raton as the Lady Tigers hosted the Lady Miners for a rematch after last weeks games in Trinidad.

            In the JV game it was like a repeat of last week’s game as the Lady Miners pulled out in front as the Lady Tigers kept it close. The Lady Tigers again pulled in closer and in the fourth quarter they took the lead.

            The Lady Miners held on close and the lead changed hands a couple of times before the buzzer finally buzzed with Trinidad on top.

 The varsity game however was a whole other ball game as the Lady

Tigers kept it close. Unlike last week’s game where Trinidad pulled out wide and never looked back. Tonight the Lady Tigers were only down by five at halftime 26-21.

            Playing a much cleaner game the Lady Tigers didn’t have the turnovers that they had last week. Raton also applied pressure to the Lady Miners which helped some but Trinidad has some great little ball handlers that allowed them to break the pressure.

            The third quarter was the deal breaker as the Lady Miners outscored Raton 18-13. It was just enough to keep the game out of reach. Raton continued to battle and pulled to within eight before the final buzzer blew.

            The Lady Tigers will host Des Moines Lady Demons on Saturday evening for Tigerfest.
