NM Class A Track & Field State Championships

A young Cimarron Ram Track team won the State Track Championship,
outlasting a tough Cliff team with a score of 71 to 55. Mountainair
was 3rd with a score of 49.

Henry Sime of Cimarron won the Class A Boys High Point honors with 23
points ( 3rd Triple Jump, 1st 1600, 1st 800, 1st 400 Relay, 1st 1600
relay )

This is the 3rd State Championship for the boys in the history of the
program. Other Championships were in 1995 & 2002.

The Rams pulled off the upset behind 3 Gold medal Relays and
incredible distance and field event individuals.


State Championship Relays:

400 meter Relay ( Henry Sime, Jacob Subratie, Stephen Hawkes, Efrain
Acosta ) ***Breaks School Record set in 2002***

1600 Medley Relay ( Cody Pittman, Malik Subratie, Stephen Hawkes,
Jacob Subratie, (Efrain Acosta medals as well running for Malik in the
Prelims)

1600 Meter Relay ( Stephen Hawkes, Henry Sime, Jacob Subratie, Efrain
Acosta ( Zac Winningham medals as well running for Efrain in the
Prelims)

All-State Honors:

Individual State Champions (Gold Medalists) :
Henry Sime - 1600 meter run, 800 meter Run
Stephen Hawkes - 300 meter Hurdles


Silver Medalists:
Efrain Acosta - Pole Vault
Jacob Subratie - 800 meter run

Bronze Medalists:
Thomas Gallegos - 3200 meter run
Henry Sime - Triple Jump

5th Place - (All State Honors)
Zac Winningham - 3200 meter Run



The Cimarron Lady Rams were 10th overall with a score of 16 points.

Brook Perry  ( Amy Gonzales & Zena Stevenson medal as well running for
Maggie & Brook in the Prelims)

Amy Gonzales - 1600 meter run, 3200 meter run.
400 Meter Relay - Maggie McCulloch, Selina Rael, Brook Perry, Jessica Pittman
800 Meter Relay - Amy Gonzales, Selina Rael, Jessica Pittman, Brook
Perry  ( Maggie McCulloch medal as well running for Amy in the
Prelims)
