Train Robbers Steal one from Triggers

It was a slug fest in Trinidad Thursday night with both teams busting the the 380 foot barrier for for home runs.

The Triggers took the early lead yet a strong Train Robber defense finally got on track and slowed the Triggers way down. They then started their own series of runs. They tied the game and went ahead in the fifth only to go a run down.

The Train Robbers then took the lead again in the eighth and kept it in the ninth. The defense held the Triggers off in the bottom of the ninth allowing only one run to win the game and bring the battle between first and second place in the north division a bit closer.

Slugfest results in One Run Trigger Win

It was a slow start for the Osos who went down 7-1 in the first inning, yet the guys never let it go coming back to tie the game at 9 in the bottom of the 5th inning. Zack Kreager hit a 2-run homer in the fifth to bring in Ryan Barbon for the tie game.

The Triggers however pulled the trigger and Wink Nolan and Frank Florio hit back to back home runs to start a five run rally to put them well out in front again.

The bats however didn't fall silent as the Triggers racked up one more and the Osos battled back with six more runs to end the game at 16-15 giving Trinidad a 17-8 record on the season.

Trigger Rally busts Oso Lead

The Raton Osos traveled to Trinidad for Saturday evening to start a three game series. As one of the newest teams in the league the Osos players are beginning to gel as a team and took a sixth inning lead.

But first the Triggers took the lead in the 1st inning with back-to-back home runs by Jacob Fabry and Sam DeMateo, both heavy hitters in the Trigger lineup, DeMateo hit the first home run during the opening series in Raton.

In the sixth inning Zack Kreager started a four run rally that would give Raton the lead. After the seventh inning stretch the Triggers got a bead on the ball and put it in deep left center several times to to load the bases. Jacob Fabry hit a standup double to start the scoring and bring in two runs. Once the inning finally saw the last strike the Triggers had pushed five runs over the plate for a 8-5 lead.

Raton added one more in the eighth as did the Triggers to end the game with a 9-6 score.
