Lady Tigers Tango Saturday evening

            Raton Hosted the Lady Tigers from La Junta Saturday evening and both the JV and varsity teams came away with convincing wins.
            Raton Jv took an early lead in the first quarter holding La Junta to only four points and never looked back as they continued their scoring ways into the second quarter. Raton held La Junta to five points in the second with aggressive play and strong defense.
            The trend continued past halftime until the final buzzer with Raton winning the game by 29 points.

         Varsity action followed with similar results as Raton took an early lead pulled out of the first quarter up by 15 at 20-5. The Raton Lady Tigers pressed on and extended the score with strong defensive play and Jordan Valdez went six for six at the charity line to help Raton outscore La Junta 17-10. La Junta on the other hand went 4 of 15 at the charity line, which definitely could have brought La Junta back in the game.
          Second half action continued the same way and Mikayla Vertovec added eight points in the third to help Raton on to a 69-32 win.
          The Lady Tigers will host the winning Lady Miners on Tuesday evening in Raton.
